I just saw this video a few minutes ago and I didn’t breathe the whole time. In the Heights is a musical on Broadway now about hope and family in a community of Dominicans and Puerto Ricans in Washington Heights, NYC. The music is amazing. When the show won the Tony Award last year as Best Musical, I immediately went and bought the soundtrack on ITunes.

Well, clearly, this 10-year old kid thought so too. He posted a video of how much he loved the show on YouTube and the show’s creator, Lin Manuel Miranda, saw it, fell in love with it, and invited him to come and be part of the show.

What you are about to see is a special show just for this kid. Actors are in street clothes. The audience is a select group, probably no more than the kids parents. And, this will forever influence this child’s life. Notice how Lin (the creator of the show also plays the main role) is shadowing him the whole time; honoring him as an artist and supporting him at the same time. Magical…

I just wanna give credit by saying that I originally saw this video on Seth’s Sassy Blog.
