Glitterz & Razz

Go Girls!

“Glitter & Razz is great.  I am looking at it from a 9 year old point of view. I have been going to Glitter & Razz since I was 4. Glitter & Razz gives kids confidence and strength in their personality.  The plays are amazing. It is amazing how they can make wonderful plays in 1 day to 2 weeks. I am in a Go Girls Afterschool Club. It helps us girls try to bring peace to the world.” –Sara, age 9, Oakland, CA

The Go Girls! Program is based on the idea that, when women and girls learn how to access our true power of creativity and compassion, stand up for ourselves and others, and put our voices center stage, we will become the leaders we are meant to be.  We will change the world.

The Go Girls! Program is made up of 3 different components:

The Go Girls! Program accesses the magic and power of theater to bring girls closer to themselves and each other.  In the process of creating and performing their original play, the girls will:

  • Learn how to access and feel comfortable sharing their own individual creativity through a collaborative process
  • Engage in a variety of activities and discussions designed to access the true power of being a girl to help strengthen both their own sense of self and their relationships with other girls
  • Learn fundamental performance techniques such as improvisational acting, voice work, and creative movement that help them build their confidence, empathy, and ability to focus
  • Learn and perform brand new songs created just for them
  • Create a variety of visual art pieces from painting to murals to sculpture
  • Be supported in their social/emotional skill development as they learn to solve problems, resolve conflicts, and navigate both positive and negative emotions in the context of a caring community - inspired by some of the best and latest thinking in social/emotional development including Kidpower and Powerful Non-Defensive Communication
