How to Make Sure You Have a Spot in Go Girls! this Summer

Go Girls! Camp registration has been open for 1 week and have already had to open a waitlist.  Isn’t that incredible?!?  We keep telling everyone that Go Girls! cannot be stopped and y’all are certainly proving it. Here is the Update: Our original site in Rockridge, of course, is attracting a bunch of returning girls and their friends.  Because of other programming at the church, we are only doing two sessions at the Rockridge location, so 1/2 of the spots are already taken. It is very important to us that each camp session represent the broadest age range of girls so, we have...

Gratitude Makes Us Happy

Gratitude isn’t just for Thanksgiving anymore. But the holiday is a good place to start. Last week, I hosted my first big family dinner including 14 folks from 3 different families, 6 kids and 2 little dogs. We did that thing. You know, the one where you pause over your sweet potatoes and go around the circle so each and every person shares what they are grateful for. Even as a gratitude advocate, I was surprised and amazed by the magic...

50 Things We Do at Go Girls!

“Fire gives us courage to be ourselves.”  Today marks the halfway point of our 2nd Session of the Go Girls! Summer Theater Workshop.  In the first session, we focused on the element of water.  This session, we are on fire!  Check out the 50 best things we did last week: 1. Joined a family group and learned the names of new friends at camp 2. Chose a word that describes a gift we bring with us to camp and decorated the word with pastels, markers, and glitter 3. Wrote and drew in our journals the way fire energy moves inside our bodies (breath, singing, thinking of a new idea,...

Go Girls! are Saying Yes

It’s official.  The G&R camp season has begun with the first session of the Go Girls! Summer Theater Workshop.  These girls, ages 6-11, make up the first 30 of 135 Go Girls! this summer.  And what an incredible bunch of girls they are. Yesterday, we worked.  Hard.  These girls have 5 classes throughout the day.  Drama. Music. Visual Art. Drumming. Dance.  They are learning from esteemed teaching artists who have performed and taught all over the world.  We celebrated all of the brand new things we did yesterday.  The new things that we said YES to: Meeting new...

Press Release: Go Girls! Theater Project – Finalist to Activate Empathy in Schools

The Go Girls! Theater Project at Glitter & Razz Productions, a small, women-owned business based in Oakland, CA, is a project that ignites compassion by promoting the social/emotional health of girls through theater and expressive arts.  Elementary school aged girls work together to create and perform original plays with pro-social themes that express their feelings and ideas, improve their relationships, and bring their collective vision for a more compassionate community to life. Go Girls! has just been selected as a finalist in the Ashoka Changemaker’s Activating Empathy, a...
